Get ready – Apprenticeships in Social Media and Digital Marketing are here!
We are so excited! You can feel the buzz going round the ITEC as we prepare for the launch of our new Advanced Apprenticeship in Social Media and Digital Marketing.
Now, instead of a fun tool we use now and again, ‘Facebook’, ‘Twitter’, ‘LinkedIn’, et al, will all have new meaning as we sharpen our toolkit, roll up our sleeves and get down with our local bank of employers who are looking to gain an edge by having their own apprentices dedicated to social media marketing.
The new framework gives the apprentice the opportunity to gain the City & Guilds level 3 Diploma in Social Media for Business and there are 3 pathways to choose from:-
All 3 pathways have mandatory units looking at the knowledge and skills of using social media for marketing campaigns. Then the pathways have specialist units that focus on the area of expertise involved in the job the apprentice is doing at work.
So if you choose the marketing pathway, you will be looking at web sites, use of digital and social media in marketing, customer relationship management and digital communications.
If you choose the technical pathway, you will be looking at website creation and development, imaging software, video software and may even choose to take some CIW (Certified Internet Web) professional qualifications.
The generic pathway has an open choice of units from each of the other pathways and gives a more general grounding in technical and marketing uses of social media.
As this goes to press, the award has been uploaded on to Learning Assistant, our e-portfolio system and we are ready for our first visit from City & Guilds. Apprentices are in place with local employers and chomping at the bit to get going! We all fancy having a go at this qualification ourselves so I better organise some staff training then, hadn’t I? No more ‘playing’ with ‘Facebook’ and gossiping on ‘Twitter’, from now on it gets serious!
